This year is passing by so quickly, everyone seemed to be scrambling to get their family photos done in time to send out Christmas cards. It's hard to not seem frazzled when you're short on time, so here are some tips to make sure your photo shoot runs smoothly and you're more than satisfied with the picture results in the future!Tip #1: Drink tons of water the week leading up to your session. It's important for you and your family to stay hydrated in general, but water maintains skin elasticity so you look as healthy as can be,Tip #2: On top of your first choice of outfits, have a backup plan. Maybe the location you're going to completely clashes with what you've chosen for the kids. Bring second outfits for everyone that will work no matter what it's paired up with. For the cozy winter look, and so dad and son can match, I highly suggest our kids gray button shoulder shirt.Tip #3: If you think you might need it, bring it with! Makeup, a jacket, extra bobby pins, hairspray, dental floss, you name it. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.Tip #4: Stand up straight and tilt your chin down. It's the oldest trick in the book for a reason, it's so effective. You don't want to look like you're slouching and have a chipmunk smile, so always be aware of what your body is doing.Tip #5: Have your photographer count to 3. Pictures in the sun can be a total pain, especially for the kiddos. To avoid having half of the family blinking in a photo, have everyone close their eyes and on the count of 3, open up!Tip #6: Explore all of your options for combinations. Be sure to have pictures taken of just parents, just kids, mom and daughter, dad and daughter, mom and son, etc. Those different options make for great photo collages!Tip #7:Have fun with it! Let your kids take the goofy pictures they want after you make them do serious ones. You never know which candids will actually turn out perfect!
