Laketran: Laketran hosting hiring event Sept. 7, interviews guaranteed

Sep. 4-Laketran will be hosting a hiring event from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Auburn Career Center's TLC Building at 8221 Auburn Road in Concord Township. The transit agency seeks to fill 18 part-time bus driver positions to operate its Dial-a-Ride service, officials have announced. Drivers will primarily serve seniors and people with disabilities, and provide assistance helping passengers travel around Lake County and to nearby Cuyahoga County medical facilities. Interviews are guaranteed to all applicants attending the event, Laketran confirmed. No commercial driver's license is required and all training is paid. Employee benefits include: -Competitive salary - $21.05/hour after a 120-day probation period -Ohio Public Employees Retirement System -Paid vacation, holiday and sick time -Free uniforms and shoe allowance -Ohio Deferred Compensation Supplemental Retirement Plan A valid driver's license is required for an interview. All applicants must pass a background check, a drug test, and an Ohio Department of Transportation physical. Candidates must be available for a six-week training class that begins Oct. 2. Route 5 Service Change Beginning Sept. 5, the South Loop of Route 5 will begin serving Harvey High School and Lake Erie College in Painesville, operating a new route. The same route will operate Mondays through Saturdays. The timetable will not change. The North Loop will no longer serve the Fairport Harbor Senior Center due to low ridership, agency officials reported.
