Lakeland College Blog Kohler wins Lakeland Middle School Math Meet

A team from Kohler recently topped a group of 321 students and 48 teams from 15 local schools to win the 29th annual Michael J. Devaney Lakeland University Middle School Math Meet.The winning Kohler team had a score of 252 points out of a possible 380 points. Team members were eighth graders Cheveyo Haubert, George Phillips, Pranva Thamballapalle and Daniel Walter; seventh graders Kripa Gandhi and Chaz Hoell; and sixth graders Claire Brotz and Advit Mangal. In second place was Farnsworth Team 1 with 240 points, and in third place was Horace Mann Team 2 with 229 points.The students competed in teams of eight, at first working individually on four sets of four problems each and then as a team on the last six exercises.Nine students earned All-Star status. The overall individual winner was Cayley Weiss of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah with a score of 39 out of 40. In second place was Emma Wagner of Horace Mann with a score of 36. Tied for third place were Nouchee Yang (Farnsworth), Lucy Thorensen (Horace Mann), Pranva Thamballapalle (Kohler), Joseph Putnam (Sheboygan County Christian) and Jack Rechtfertig (Urban) with scores of 33 points. Tied for eighth place were Noah Bauer (Lake Country Academy) and Sutton Willerdink (Random Lake) with scores of 31 points.Eleven students won honorable mention awards: Ben Buemler (Farnsworth), Jonathan Chang (Horace Mann), Cheveyo Haubert (Kohler), Christine Vandenheuvel (Ashwaubenon Parkview), Alexander Smits (Ashwaubenon Parkview), Dylan Doyle (Farnsworth), Peyton Baker (Horace Mann), Griffin Oplatek (Horace Mann), Claire Brotz (Kohler), Silas Dailey (Plymouth Riverview) and Emmitt Huhn (Plymouth Riverview).Other schools competing included Cedar Grove-Belgium, Howards Grove, Lake Country Academy, Oostburg Christian, Sheboygan County Christian, Sheboygan Leadership Academy, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and Urban.Middle school all-stars First place: Kohler Middle School First place: Kohler Middle School Second place: Farnsworth Middle School Third place: Horace Mann Middle School Middle school honorable mention winners
