This cement type is ideal in concrete applications involving foundations and basements or structures such as canal linings, culverts and siphons that will ultimately contact soil or water that contain sulphates. Type S mortar has a higher strength that is more resistance to lateral forces and water penetration. With the higher strength value, type "S" is commonly used for any structures below grade.Portland Cement is an all-purpose cement suited to almost all concrete projects. The range of applications includes pavements, sidewalks, reinforced concrete buildings, bridges, and concrete masonry units.
