Kiddylicious: Biscoff and Nakd owner adds children's snack maker to portfolio for £42m

Belgian snack company Lotus Bakeries has added a British company to its burgeoning portfolio of healthy snacks which already includes the Nakd and Trek brands.The company will pay an estimated £42m for the entirety of Kiddylicious, a children's snack and meal maker, the equivalent of double the business's projected revenue for the year.Kiddylicious was founded in 2009 by former M&S food scientist Sally Preston. It has since expanded beyond the UK, most recently signing a deal with Alibaba's Tmall to enter the Chinese market.Lotus said it would be able to help Kiddylicious with its "next level of growth" internationally, as well as strengthen its position in the UK.Preston will continue to run the business, alongside commercial director Neil Mather, from Amersham.It is the latest addition to Lotus's expanding list of brands. The company, which is famed for its Lotus and Biscoff biscuits, has been snapping up brands in the healthy eating segment for its Natural Foods division. So far these include Nakd, Trek, Bear and Urban Fruit.Lotus boss Jan Boone said: "We are excited as we firmly believe that the Kiddylicious brand has a delicious and extensive product offering for babies and toddlers, which enriches our product range in the healthier snacking segment."Read more: Hershey is buying Tyrrells crisps owner Amplify for $1.6bn
