As the weather warms up, pests will be coming out of hiding. Take a look at a few of these bugs to watch out for this spring. Boxelder Bugs Boxelder bugs are harmless, but still pretty annoying to have around. At the weather gets warmer, they become more active and if they've spent the winter in your walls or attic, they will find their way into your living space. Ants Ants come out of hiding in spring because hibernation is over and food becomes more abundant. Ants seek shelter in your home to escape the hot sun and spring rain. Once ants find crumbs to munch on, they will continue to return and will even leave scent paths for other ants to follow. Ticks Ticks are most active from mid-March to mid-May and from mid-August to November. Ticks are already a big problem in the Midwest this year.
