These days, you can find anything on the internet, when I have a question about something obscure, about 30 seconds of googling will present me with an answer. More and more we are seeing YouTube instructional videos on everything from how to tie a tie, to how to assemble your AR-15; question is, is YouTube the very best resource for firearm tips? We say, "Sometimes", but other times, it is better to leave it to the experts. In the case of assembling your AR, we suggest either visiting an armorer, or getting instructions from one. Any Jack, Ben or Sally can make an instructional video; no credentials are required, and they have no liability in the outcome of your project. Truly, you are investing in that persons advice and instructions; both financially and physically. Firearms can be incredibly risky when assembled improperly; you can injure yourself, and others, or damage your (expensive) parts beyond repair. We like the idea of people wanting to assemble their own firearm, after all, if you own it, you should be able to put it together, take it apart and have a basic knowledge of the pieces and parts. We also like being able to recommend resources for quality instruction and advice, we take pride in the parts we machine and want them to last a lifetime and perform flawlessly for you. We recently came across an instructional video from The Gun Coach, "The Ultimate Step-by-Step AR-15 Build Guide" and can't recommend it more highly. Jim VanMiddlesworth, a 25 year Law Enforcement Veteran, has years of extensive training and experience as a firearms instructor and armorer; and gives clear, detailed instruction that even the most inexperienced builder will be able to follow. We definitely give this DVD the JD Machine Tech stamp of approval. You can buy it here for $15, which isn't bad, considering the expense of repairing a bad build mistake! Let us know what you think!
