I have OCD. Not the debilitating type that you see documentaries about, but I have it for a lot of different things in my life that I have to do a certain way, or else my day feels ruined. I also count things, mostly syllables and I count them until the number is even. While walking, if I am counting random things that I hear people say I have to do it while stepping over any cracks in the pavement. I am also very "particular" about certain things. For instance, I eat my food so that I have equal portions of each item at all times. The water from a ketchup bottle cannot touch my plate, etc... This anal retentiveness of mine spills over to my need to ensure that "stuff" is handled properly and packed appropriately. When dealing with collectibles, a primary concern when mailing them is damage in the mail. Some items are just fragile and break easily, while others are in a cardboard box which is usually used to display the item. Typically, collector's of things require that the display box is in perfect condition.Being a collector of stuff myself, I understand this. I also have OCD, which is a good combination when packing stuff up to mail it. I personally pack and ship every item that we sell and mail (local deliveries are sometimes packed differently). I can guarantee that you will be hard pressed to find another website or store that spends the amount of time that I spend to ensure that your items arrive to you safely when mailed. Since we don't have the sales volume as most other stores, my primary focus isn't how many "outs" or "units" I am packing and shipping. I take my time to package stuff properly. How I package an item varies depending on a couple of factors. 1.) The item itself and it's size. 2.) The "damagability" (that's my own term I just made up) of the item. Using a Funko Pop! Vinyl figure as an example, I will explain my process for packing and mailing an item. Funko Pops are shipped from the manufacturer in a fragile cardboard box with a display window, like this example My goal when shipping this item is for the customer to receive it how I sent it, so this doesn't happen:To help ensure this damage doesn't occur in shipping, I add tissue paper or newspaper around the display window and then I create my own inner box around the pop figure, like this: And then I pack it into another box like this:I cut and fold cardboard custom fit to each item that I am mailing. This varies, depending on how many items, their size, and which type. I thoroughly enjoy this because it's like putting together a puzzle for me. I am proud of my packaging.
