Interloop Limited and the denim consultancy Simply Suzette are joining forces on an eco-minded collection that pays homage to the notion of farm to fashion. Called "Unpeeled," it's a range made from Interloop's Loomshake yarn, a product spun from cotton and banana fiber. The assortment of men's and women's apparel pays tribute to the farmers in the garment equation who Ani Wells , Simply Suzette founder and 2020 Rivet 50 member, calls "the silent contributors". The collection combines Interloop's innovation and the eco-conscious ethos of Simply Suzette, using CLO 3D apparel design software and innovative spinning methods to show that garment design can be high-tech and trendy at the same time. Traceability is key, using Interloop's proprietary Looptrace technology to tell the consumer the full history of a garment, starting with its farm field origins. Simply Suzette and Interloop hope to inspire others to adopt novel materials such as banana fiber and grape leather, like H&M did in a shoe collab with British brand Good News. Ganni , too, has given grape leather a shot in a trendy footwear capsule. Items in the collection include jeans, a belted jumpsuit, a denim shacket, and a denim skirt. A special tag bearing a banana graphic denotes the collection's unique origins. Interloop is a Pakistan-based, wholly-integrated producer of denim, activewear, apparel, and hosiery for such clients as Nike, Adidas and Puma , in addition to H&M. The company's prime plant is a 232-acre campus in Faisalabad that has sustainability at its core. The LEED-certified infrastructure boasts solar paneling, biomass boilers, a waste water treatment plant and a biodiversity park to promote local species of trees, and man-made wetlands made from treated domestic water.
