So its been a while since I posted anything, and despite the fact I have two stories that I am obviously neglecting, this idea is running around and around in my head. Maybe sticking it on paper will allow me to finally be able to focus on my existing stories! ................................................................................................................................................................................................................. "I can't believe I'm doing this, I can't believe I'm doing this, I can't believe I'm doing this." The mantra repeated over and over in her head, slipping out between her teeth. Lieutenant Eve Dallas, NYPSD, had faced men with various weapons, had looked death in the face and laughed and had dealt with situations that had made bigger men weep. But a simple trip to the store had her sweating buckets. As Eve reached out to snatch a box off the shelf, her link beeped. "Block video, Dallas." "Dallas, we've got a shout. Central park, two bodies." Dallas's partner, Delia Peabody rattled off the details. "I'll meet you there. Just need two minutes to wrap this up." "Where are you anyway?" "I'm erm, I'm err, shopping." "SHOPPING" Peabody exclaimed. And that was the only word she could get out of her mouth before her lieutenant cut the link. ................................................................................................................................................................................. Fifteen minutes later, Eve strode through central park towards the hustle and bustle that usually accompanied a crime scene, making a beeline for the pink cowboy boots of her partner. "What have we got" Eve called out as she pulled a can of sealit out of her kit. Peabody looked at her partner, noticing the grey pallor to her skin and the nervous, almost timid way she walked in a single glance. Choosing to ignore it and act as normal as possible until she had her lieutenant alone, Peabody turned her attention back to the children in front of her, because that's what they were. Poor, innocent children. "Two vics" Peabody started, detaching herself from the scene in every way possible. "Both female. Identified as Amanda Charters and Louise Fernley, aged 12." Eve knelt down beside the body of Amanda Charters, gently taking the child's mangled hand in her own. "Someone really did a number on the pair of you didn't they?" She whispered, pitty filling her eyes. "Record on" Eve continued. Victim one identified as Amanda Charters, age 12. Victim has multiple injuries apparent including three missing fingers on her right hand, multiple bruising and stab wounds" Eve sighed and stood up as she finished her physical exam of Amanda Charters. Glancing at Peabody, Eve saw the utter horror written in the detectives eyes as she finished with Louise Fernley. Eve glanced back down at the battered body of the poor child in front of her, spun on her heel and promptly threw up in the bushes lining the footpath. .................................................................................................................................................................................
