The solution, called ImmersiveView Surgical Plan (IVSP), combines ImmersiveTouch's expertise in medical imaging, surgical simulation and virtual reality. The software suite saves surgeons time by providing them with an intuitive way to plan craniomaxillofacial cases on their own without needing time with a biomedical engineer. With IVSP, the surgeon uses an interactive 3D virtual reality model of a patient's anatomy to create a patient-specific surgical plan. When they're done, they send this plan to ImmersiveTouch, where a dedicated biomedical engineer transfers the plan to the operating room with the help of accurate 3D printed guides and templates."I have used IVSP in over 150 cases, primarily in trauma, orthognathic, craniofacial and mandibular reconstructions," said Lee Alkureishi, M.D., pediatric plastic surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago.
