Hidoodle Blog How to Form Good Habits With a Calendar App

They say it takes about 30 days to form a habit. The truth is a lot more complicated and depends on the habit that you're trying to form, but let's use 30 days as a rough guideline. One tip that's helped me form good habits like exercising regularly and taking care of things around the house is to create a recurring event in a calendar app to help push me towards making the habit stick.Let's say I'm trying to form a habit of checking emails and organizing my calendar events every morning. I'll create a calendar event for "Check emails, organize calendar", set the time from 8am to 8:30am, and set the event to repeat daily and end in 30 days. I'll add an alarm to the event to reduce the chance of skipping this task. After about a week of daily repetition of this habit, seeing the calendar event, and hearing the alarm, I'll usually find that I'm already thinking about doing that habit before the event alerts me. Once this happens...congrats! I've started to form a new habit. At this point, I like to update the calendar event to repeat every other day instead of every day. Stretching the event reminder makes you less dependent on the event to remember to follow the habit. When you've stretched the event repetition far enough out and you're confident that you've formed the habit, then delete the event.I hope this helps you form good habits in your life. If you're looking for a clean and powerful calendar app to help you build your habits, take a look at OneStack Calendar and let me know what you think.
