Flowers N Ferns Blog Do you ask the right questions for your event?

While you might know how many guests are going to be at your event we want to make sure that you ask and your florist asks the right questions. Do you know what to ask your florist to make sure everyone is comfortable and you make your party a welcoming experience? Here are some tips for you to have before you call your florist for an appointment. First, is it a wedding or a party? Why do we ask? Florists are sentimental and we like to hear about your event. It puts us in the right mindset to know how to help you with your event. So what should you expect to to hear from us? For a party: Is your party going to be at home or at a venue? Is there a theme? Do you want floral centerpieces or just floral touches to be placed around the area? Do you have vessels that we can use or are we to provide the containers? Is there going to be a cake? Does the guest of honor need a corsage and/or boutonniere or maybe a presentation bouquet? Are we to delivery or did you want to pick up your order? I know this seems like a lot of questions, but we want you to impress your guests. For a party at home, think about a main centerpiece where the food is to be placed and then a few smaller ones for where the guest will be mingling. And don't forget the restroom. It doesn't have to be much, but little touches make a difference and make it feel welcoming, When you are having a bigger event like a wedding, you don't have to spend a fortune unless you have a platinum budget, but don't skimp on flowers either. Flowers truly complete the look. Take a look around your venue carefully. Look for areas that are void of color or just seem "blah". That is where you should add flowers. Ask your florist to work "little touches" into your budget. One of my favorite things to do is after I get the centerpieces placed is to look around for areas that need "little touches" such as a few flower heads on the bar and cocktail area. Why bother you think? The guest are only in that space for an hour or so. Because the cocktail hour sets the tone of the evening. A flower or 2 on a mirror with a couple of votive candles is all you need to brighten up the space. I recommend adding flowers to the place card table, cake table, sweetheart table and when appropriate the memorial table. Many brides will use there bouquet on the head table, Before your bouquet gets there the table can look plain, so add a few petals or flower heads on the head table. That way there is a splash of color there while your guests are waiting for you to arrive. Have the centerpieces be interesting, but make sure your guests can see over them to talk. Don't forget flowers for the cake or the cupcakes! I hope these few tips help making ordering flowers easier for your next event. As your professional florist we are here to make it easy for you, so rely on us and enjoy the beauty and special moments of your event.
