Flolight Blog model railroading and Flolight

this from our long-time customer Dennis Brennan:I created the winter scene on my O scale Sandy Harbor Terminal Railway layout for the December 2016 issue of Classic Toy Trains magazine. I regularly shoot train layouts for them and my photos have appeared on more than a dozen covers.I wrote the following copy to accompany the photo. It was one of those cold soupy mornings, you know the kind-miserably damp after a light snow, fog so thick that it created the cliché, and the climb was treacherous. I framed the shot and waited, turning away from the biting mist. A faint factory toot echoed across the harbor and the tiny tank engine hissed, popped and rumbled into view for one last time. The photo was taken with a Nikon D810. I used one key light to illuminate the fog and the engine, and a bounce card fills in the shadows. A second fixture (FloLight MicroBeam 1024) adds a tiny bit of light to the background factories. The sky is white backdrop paper about 2 feet behind the layout and lit separately. An inexpensive water-based fog machine was used to create the atmosphere. I sifted baking soda over the existing scenery to create the snow.Dennis Brennanwww.brennansmodelrr.com
