Flaxme Blog What is Wrong With Food Today?

I am not going to get up on a soapbox here but simply express my feelings about this subject quickly. When I was a kid, I ate a lot of junk food, I didn't eat healthy stuff like fruits and vegetables and I was never sick. As I got older, I did eat a lot of that healthy food and I stayed relatively healthy until I turned 40. Then all of sudden I started getting sick a lot and was finally diagnosed with Celiac and Hashimoto's disease. Throughout our research, we have come across a LOT of articles and reports about all the toxic chemicals found in the food we buy and eat. Healthy foods like vegetables and fruits which should be all natural, are really not anymore and they could be the very cause of these new illnesses. They aren't really even "healthy" anymore but harmful. 30 years ago, we never heard of anyone getting these diseases, now it's a rampant epidemic. All this talk of GMOs has me quite concerned. Disease is at an all time high and my brother recently spoke with a medical researcher who mentioned that in the next few years we are going to continue to see more and more health issues related to eating foods which are no longer "natural" but contaminated with pesticides and genetically engineered to no longer be healthy. He and I are of the first generations to be exposed to these modified foods. It's all about money and I guess no one really cares about the quality of our food. How can that be? Something so basic which we need to survive and our government doesn't make that a priority? It's crazy and I don't even know what more to say about it, but I will do what I have to do to be safe.I now make it a practice to only buy CERTIFIED ORGANIC foods. Even though they are more expensive, I am willing to pay extra to keep us healthy and safe. No longer will I rely on someone else to make sure MY food is safe.
