I want to bring value to peoples lives. At the end of the day that is what my business is centered around doing. From quality food to rich experiences I hope that people are positively impacted by my work. When I log on to my social media accounts I see a lot of fluff. From clickbait titles to reposts of memes to #hastaggingtheshitoutofeverything it gets a little old. People are wanting to escape from the grip that their smartphones have over them and everyone complains about everyone else being on their phones. Instead of bitching about how it used to be "better" we need to start adding value to the new way people are interacting with each other and businesses need to catch up to how consumers are consuming.Value and authenticity are the only things that matter. We need to bring VALUE when people look at their phone. I heard a quote once and it was something along the lines of, "If you're not willing to offend anyone you're probably not going to inspire anyone either." It doesn't mean say offensive things to get people jacked up, it means you need to take a stand for what you believe in. Social media accounts are some of the best ways to be fake. You craft your own identity with what you post. People take 50 photos to get one picture that they will caption #candid. In the new era where it's so easy to be fake authenticity is king. From fat to fighting to lean I had a lot of help from a lot of people to get me where I am now. I want to give back and pass on the things I've learned in my life so far and help people improve their lives. Part of being authentic is knowing your limits. I would love to add value to people following my accounts with plant growing tips but this is my first year ever growing anything. It would be fake for me to pass off information I found on the internet as my own knowledge. I would love to give people nutrition advice and help them lose weight like I once did but I don't feel I have the science to backup what I'm saying. I would love to tell people 50 ways to use a radish but I don't even know 10 ways. Not yet anyways. I don't like reposting shit articles about nothing that isn't going to help anyone. The best way I can bring value to you is to first free myself from an outside source of income. Once I can provide myself with enough money to pay my bills I will gain the freedom of my time. When I have my time I can do more things to service my friends/family/community that grows around my business. The faster I get to be free from a "job" the sooner I can start creating REAL value for other people with some of the ideas I have in my mind. With all the being said I still want to somehow bring value to people while I am working for my freedom. I feel that the best way I can do that is to not pretend to be an expert but instead just bring people along for the ride with me while I figure it out. I try to stay active on my social media accounts and keep people updated with the good, the bad and the hilarious. All I'm trying to do for this year is to let other people into my experience with this. It could end up awesome or it could all go downhill fast. I don't know what's going to happen and that scares the hell out of me.As part of trying to let people into my experience my friend Drew Sample and I have started a weekly podcast series. We are accountability partners through the course we are both taking at www.profitableurbanfarming.com. I pitched him the idea of record our phone calls that we would already be doing and running them on his podcast as a series while we were down in San Diego. He liked the idea and we started the first Sunday we were back home. It's really great to meet people that are really getting after it. I have a lot of people in my world who talk a big game. They tell me how hard they are working or all the reasons why something won't work out but it's good to meet people who are going to execute on things and not let trivial bullshit hang them up.You can find a link to the first episode here.Subscribe to it on iTunes or any other places you might listen to podcasts.I have a lot of ideas for things I want to do in the future and how I want my business to look but first things first I need to take care of me so I can then take care of everyone else. At the time of this writing I haven't been doing the best with my nutrition and I feel a little chubby and lethargic. I know it's due to my nutrition and I will start being awesome on my diet again right now. I will lose the little bit of fat I do have and start working out again. I need to take care of me so I can take care of you and that's exactly what I'm going to do.Lots of things are in the works, there are some projects that I'm doing that I'm SO excited about and I can't wait to share with everyone. Make sure you sign up for the newsletter so you get updates straight to your inbox. I might say stuff you don't agree with, I might do things you think are weird, I might hurt your feelings or maybe you don't like the language that I use but I really feel that is my best way to provide value and build a community around my farm and what I'm doing.
