The grocery chain plans to open a new 44,000-square-foot grocery store at 4310 Texas 6 in September, restoring a longtime neighborhood supermarket while creating 120 jobs through a series of online and in-person job fairs, according to a company news release. The opening of the new store marks a return for Fiesta to the area nine years after the original store was severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey flooding in 2017. With Shaquille O'Neal's help, Jordan Wilmore earns his Kemah police badge Fiesta also hopes to "reconnect" with employees who worked at the Texas 6 store before its closing after the storm, with the store poised to "restore a longtime neighborhood grocery destination." Fiesta has operated in Texas since 1972 and is known for its international foods and grocery selection, particularly authentic Latin American foods. The original Fiesta Mart in Bear Creek occupied a former Gerland's location until 2001, according to the Houston Historic Retail website. The new construction was cited in a 2025 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration .
