Problems with your hard drive? Toaster burning your bread just a little too often? Favourite pair of slacks got a rip right up you know where?Then come along to Exeter Repair Café's monthly 'mend-in' on Saturday 15th July from 10.00am till 1.00pm at St Sidwell's Community Centre.The Exeter Repair Café is a community led project with joint funding from Exeter City & Devon County councils, and is one of over 200 in the UK & part of the Repair Café movement started in the Netherlands in 2011.People who visit Repair Cafés are not usually customers of repair specialists. They would throw away broken items because paying to have them repaired is, in general, too expensive. At the Repair Café they learn that you don't have to throw things away, there are alternatives.At our monthly Repair Café, in St Sidwell's, we not only repair but show 'customers' how to repair their items. We encourage enthusiasm for a sustainable society.Our Launch in February was a great success. We had almost 50 people attending & we mended about 70 items in 3 hours. Our 'Menders' tackled a wide range of items including bikes, robot vacuum cleaners, TVs, computers, backpacks & clothes.At our second Café on 18th March we helped almost 30 people to mend over 50 items.
