The Kingdom Trails in Northeast Vermont were recently voted as the best mountain bike trail network in North America by Bike Magazine. They are located in East Burke, Vermont which was also named one of the 101 Best Outdoor Towns in the entire United States. The latter award is from Boston Magazine Travel and Life. The trails are a fantastic place to exercise, meet people and make friends. In addition to mountain biking in the pastoral and wild setting in the hills of Vermont, other possibilities for exercising with friends or family include hiking, trail running, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing. There is a highly recommended festival at Kingdom Trails for those who want to stay in shape, get out and meet others and experience nature. The festival is growing yearly and the last one saw 6000 visitors. Even on a regular weekend the town is filled with mountain bikers. Every week in season, about 1500 to 1600 people come for a weekend of mountain biking. This is a great opportunity to enjoy time doing healthy exercise with old or new friends. Kingdom Trails staff puts a great deal of work into the trails and the word is spreading across the USA and into Canada. Indeed the region is becoming a destination in its own right. Approximately 60,000 people come to ride the Kingdom Trails each season. The trails are open from May 1st to November 1st. If you would like to plan ahead, the festival is generally held in June. Next year the New England Mountain Bike Association Festival will be at Kingdom Trails and Burke Bike Park from June 20-22, 2014.
