Erwin Schrodinger was a physicist in the early 20th century known for his work in quantum mechanics, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1933. He is famous for his "Schrodinger's cat" thought experiment which showed how weird physics gets at the atomic level. If the observable world behaved like atoms, he said, one could create a simple experiment such that a cat would be both alive and dead at the same time.
