I've shot hundreds of weddings in the mountains and on-top of mountains. I've shot winter weddings in the snow, summer weddings in the Colorado sunshine, and fall weddings with the beautiful yellow aspen trees. That's what I do. But never have I shot a wedding in July, at a ski-resort that still had snow on the runs! This was definitely a first and this unique situation was fully embraced by Lara and Jayson, who perfectly enough, met while they were skiing and snowboarding in Breckenridge!The Colorado Rocky Mountains had a big year for snow this past winter and the ski season was extended all the way to July 4th at Arapahoe Basin. Which means that people were still skiing on the same spot where the very next day, Lara and Jayson exchanged their vows and celebrated their love in a gorgeous summertime (with a bit of snow) mountaintop wedding! As always, the guests and the bridal party made an entrance by riding a chairlift to the ceremony site. But, another first for me, the groom and his groomsmen hiked up the hill above the ceremony site in their ski boots, then made a grand entrance themselves by skiing down to the ceremony site. I mean, why not!?!Lara and Jayson are one of those couples that everyone loves immediately and that was reflected in how many guests travelled from all over the country to be there with them on their special day. They also, very sweetly, integrated Jayson's kids into the ceremony and the reception in a number of special ways that truly reflected their story and their family coming together. The kids walked Lara down the aisle, they gave the bride away to their Dad, and Lara had written special vows to share with the kids during the ceremony as she promised to be the best "bonus Mom" to them both. It was so touching!
