Edify's Crowdfunding Campaign is looking goodAfter 2 complete rewrites and 5 new versions, Edify's crowdfunding profile is coming along nicely. I would've had version 6 completed last night if I didn't decide to take a break and watch episode 1 of Mr. Robot...then episode 2...then because of a jaw dropping ending, episode 3. Next thing I know, it's 1:45 in the morning and I could feel my motivation to do anything but binge watch Season 1 of Mr. Robot fly out of the window, so I'm working away at version 6 today. With each new iteration, Edify's crowdfunding profile goes from an over-stuffed ode to all the problems I've found over the last 3 years, to a concise and compelling story of what Edify is, and why it will be so important for everyone looking to get a college degree. I've also decided to open up my demo site to the general public once Edify's crowdfunding campaign kicks off. Getting feedback from as many people as possible has been crucial in helping me form Edify into what it is today, and I'm looking forward to being motivated by all the compliments, and taking all the negative sentiments as opportunities to learn and improve the product. What I will have by the end of this weekFirst and foremost, I'll have a solid first copy of my crowdfunding profile that I'll send out to trusted advisors, some close family members, and a few of my more technical and business savvy friends. Second, I'll have a solid first draft of Edify's in-depth back story, which you'll receive when you pledge any amount towards our crowdfunding campaign. This will come as a PDF and include everything from all the research I wanted to stuff into my crowdfunding campaign (but couldn't because it could quite literally bore you to tears), to my motivation for starting Edify, as well as what the company was initially called. Even mockups of my initial product designs, which are deathly embarrassing and hilariously awful. Third, I'll have a draft script and camera angles for Edify's crowdfunding video, which you can think of as our first commercial. Somehow, the video making gods realized just how much of a tight budget I'm running on, because Videoblocks sent out a offer for 90% off unlimited HD stock videos earlier this week, and it was an offer I simply could not refuse. If you'd like to get a personal guided tour of Edify's demo site (as well as hear about some of it's future products and services), don't hesitate to send me an email at Julian@justedify.com. Oh, and one more thing...Last Monday night got me more excited than a school boy in 9th period before a long summer break. I'm an Eagles fan, and I was exponentially more excited to watch the Star Wars trailer at halftime than watch Philly (eventually) beat the Giants 27-7. I had all the feels (as my generation likes to say) during that trailer, and have since watched it more than 30 times. I sat on Fandango's website for 15 minutes in vein before waiting for 30 minutes on their app to purchase tickets for Thursday, December 17th in IMAX in Florida, AND Friday the 18th in IMAX in Philadelphia (when I'm back home). Yes, I am going to the pre-release and feature release for Star Wars in 2 different cities, I am that excited. I wanted to bring this up for 2 reasons: 1st, it's Star Wars, with a mix of the original cast, an exciting new generation, and a fantastic director. If you're not excited to see The Force Awakens, then you've either never seen the films, or you have no soul. 2nd, I wanted to bring up something I've been annoyed about for some time: what the hell is up with movies saying that they're coming out on Friday, only to be released on Thursday at a normal time? My Star Wars tickets for Thursday aren't even for a midnight release (and I've been to 15+ of those for both video games and movies), it's for a 7pm showing! 7-freaking-pm! Plus, there's even 2 more showings after that! WTF?!Back in my day *said while rocking back and forth on the porch of an old southern home with a massive piece of hay in my mouth*, movies that we're advertised to come out on Friday came out on Friday, and unless you were excited enough to see it at Midnight the night before or skip work the next day, you'd have to wait until Friday night to see it. Anyway, I'm not complaining. I've seen most of the last few biggest movies on Thursday night at 7, and even weirder, Interstellar on a Wednesday night at 10 before it was officially released 2 days later. That was by far the best movie experience I've ever had because A. it's Interstellar, and B. I saw it in an IMAX dome, and many of the movies most beautiful scenes (like when they're floating around in space or near the black hole) are shot to fill the entire IMAX dome. Full disclosure: I gripped my seat like a constipated man on the toilet who just chugged half a bottle of Pepto-Bismol when the camera switched from widescreen, to fill the IMAX dome when Matthew McConaughey walked outside to see the wave that was higher than the clouds closing in on him and his team. Anyhow, this concludes my blog post for this week, so please subscribe and email me if you'd like to get a guided tour of Edify's demo site. Cheers- Julian
