Smart working is not just about using modern technology to organise your day, but thinking outside the box and pulling in resources that can help with your entire workload or just one aspect of it. Looking at what tasks are best suited to your talents and what needs to be delegated. One thing for sure everyone knows what stress is. But one-thing lots of people do not know is how to deal with it. There are companies whose business is taking other people's stress as part of their mandate. Lots of people have the knowledge and the ability but just not the time. We all know how to clean but do you have the time or inclination to clean up after others at work? Unless you love heights a window cleaner is essential. The alarm system, logistics, refuses collection - we use companies that know how to do their job better than most of us could turn our hand to. Of course this makes sense especially when you are a busy company - the right tools for the right job. However, would you look at out-sourcing your work as a negative (like your are giving the business away) or as a positive in that you are freeing up the valuable time of yourself and your staff for more important, more involved, more interesting projects - Working Smart? Some companies when they get busy get stressed and pass this on to their employees, with tight deadlines and long hours thus creating high turnover of people, sickness and absentees (not smart). But when passing it out to smaller companies the only obstacle must be trust; can you trust they will deliver accurately, on time and not steal the work?Outsourcing is a viable option and an easy step to smart working, helping you achieve the 'Work/Life' balance we all crave. As long can you trust the company to deliver and that you are not worried they may try to take your client? A simple contract can work wonders, but just getting to know the people you are dealing is a better way (as generally we can get a feel when something isn't quite right and that gut-instinct is generally accurate) to get the job done. If a relationship can be established the ease of a partnership is rewarding on both sides. Even to the degree of trusting your supplier in front of a client at meetings, delivering on tight deadlines, borrowing offices or staff and generally using their experience, availability and keenness to your benefit. Then look at the simplicity; if on every project your company makes % clear profit, then by diverting business to a partner leaves your company free to get more business. The days of my work and your work are still alive but if smaller companies respect the boundaries there are potential assets waiting to be used to full potential.
