If you or a veteran you know needs the assistance of another person to perform daily tasks, the Aid and Attendance Improved Pension was established in 1952 to provide benefits for veterans and surviving spouses who require regular assistance from another individual. The Pension also offers reimbursement for medical expenses not covered by insurance, Medicare, Medicaid or other agencies and is paid directly to the veteran or surviving spouse. Assistance can be given in the veteran's home, in an assisted living community or in a nursing home.
