I don't know how secure these things really are. There is disagreement as to whether they are listening all the time or not. The consensus, though, is that we pay for Amazon Echo and our other IoT devices with more than our money. We pay with our data. Whether or not you choose to participate in the Internet of Things or not is up to you.
