CMHA Blog Partner with First Learning

First Learning, a new CMHA initiative, will support successful early childhood education for children. The initiative will begin as a pilot in the Millvale and Sutterview communities during late Summer. The two CMHA sites were selected because more than 400 families with children ages 1 to 5 live in them. First Learning will work in partnership with daycare centers, preschool programs and Head Start programs to promote core educational components like:Teaching parents the learning stages of developmentFostering intense parent engagement in their child's learningProviding Alpha Phonics training for parents and childrenCommitting to frequently evaluate and assess childrenEight community partners have agreed to be a part of First Learning and there's room for more.
