Civ Trans Engineering Blog The Importance of Our Nation's Roads and Traffic Control

For as little as roads actually take up in terms of space within our nation, we certainly spend a whole lot of time utilizing them, considering their usefulness and complaining about how they could be better. You wouldn't know it considering how much space roadways take up in our collective consciousness, but paved roadways, including shoulders, parking lots and driveways take up less than one percent of the land area within the contiguous United States. According to the Federal Highway Administration, our roadways take up less than 18,000 square miles of our nation's actual land space. Considering how much just your morning drive can affect your day, and by extension your mood, it really is no wonder why we find our roadways permeating our thoughts and affecting our behavior more than it seems that they should. Consider that intersection that always seems to be timed badly for traffic control. You've either learned to deal with, create alternate routes around it or maybe, you continue to complain about it. Fact is, a good or bad traffic control plan can change not just your mood for the day but in extreme cases, make you want to move away from an area. CivTrans Engineering Inc. always strives to bring both innovative and the tried and true techniques to your traffic control plan or civil engineering project. Headed by Craig MacPhee, CivTrans Engineering has designed over 100 traffic signals and performed studies for hundreds of traffic projects. Bridging the gap between civil and traffic engineering CivTrans would be proud to be considered for your next land development project in Colorado and Nebraska.
