BLISS is sleeping like a superstar in Bangkok's most glamorous hotel. The River of Kings aka Chao Praya has many five star hotels dotted along its riverbanks, but none as singularly spectacular as The Siam. Exuding the grandeur of King Rama V period, and the glitz and glamor of 1920s Art Deco, the all-suite hotel is the brainchild of Krissida Sukosol Clapp or affectionately Khun Noi. Many know Khun Noi as a rock star and award-winning actor. But not many know him as an avid antique collector. The hotelier came up with the idea to build The Siam to house his massive antique collection sourced from around the world. Together with interior design extraordinaire, Bill Bensley, the pair has lovingly created a living museum. Every antique art piece is proudly displayed in the sumptuous suites, library cum cinema, corridors, gym and spa. You can spend the entire day just admiring the collection. The Siam has numerous dining options including delectable Thai cuisine at Chon Thai restaurant, set within a cluster of three century-old Thai teakwood houses which were once part of antique dealer, Connie Mangksau's home. Adjacent is the Deco Bar & Bistro, a snappy black & white two-leveled venue serving international comfort cuisine inspired by the jazzy ambiance. Walk up the Escher-esque staircase to the second level and you'll see a dazzling art installation of wall-mounted brass instruments. For French pastries and afternoon high tea with champagne, head to Café Cha. The Bathers Bar next to the infinity pool is the perfect setting to enjoy a sundowner with uninterrupted views of the Chao Praya. If you feel guilty about overeating, there is a professionally equipped in-house Muay Thai gym to work out a good sweat. For hardcore Muay Thai fans, private training programs that include an excursion to a local Muay Thai training center and Muay Thai fight are also available. To sooth the aches and pains from Muay Thai training or just to pamper yourself from head to toe, Opium Spa is your ultimate wellness sanctuary. End the day with a private screening of Khun Noi's movies or Hollywood classics in the home theatre lined with beautiful antique cinema chairs. A destination in itself, The Siam is undoubtedly Bangkok's most glamorous and luxurious hotel. www.thesiamhotel.com
