Cash Bases: RBTE 2016: Cash Bases returns to 'must attend' retail event

Cash drawer and PoS solutions manufacturer Cash Bases is returning to RBTE in 2016 but in a new guise, following its recent merger with APG.Retail technology companies that exhibited at RBTE 2015 have rushed to sign up to next year's event at a record rate, and Essential Retail is running a series of Q&As with some of the re-bookers.Today it is the turn of Cash Bases. Matt Petry, the company's marketing assistant, explains why Cash Bases is returning to the show in 2016 and why, even in a digital age, the issue of cash loss is still a key concern for retailers. What were the highlights from RBTE 2015?The RBTE 2015 show was another great success for Cash Bases as we were able to engage with a large number of high quality retailers, partners and distributors. Our stand was always busy with visitors and there was fantastic interest in our SMARTtill Intelligent Cash Management system, which featured on the Eye on Innovation trail. Our other innovative solutions, like the Universal Modular Interface (UMI), also created a real buzz with visitors. How did the hot topics at RBTE 2015 compare to previous years and what's your overall view of how the show has developed? Many visitors to our stand were concerned with security and preventing the ever-present problem of cash loss as well as increasing efficiency at the point of sale. We also found there was great interest in the development of mobile points of sale, using tablet technology to increase the customers' experience. The compactness of cash drawers, to fit in with new mobile technologies, is also an important matter. The move to Olympia went well and the new venue proved itself. The show seems unstoppable; going from strength to strength each year with an ever-increasing number of visitors not only from the UK but also abroad. There is no doubt that the RBTE show has established itself as a 'must-attend' event for anyone in the retail industry. What were the top three reasons for re-booking a stand and confirming your appearance at RBTE 2016?As the flagship retail event in the UK, it is vital that Cash Bases attends to connect with all the major players in the retail industry. Not only can we demonstrate our innovative cash drawer solutions and gauge the reaction, we can also learn and understand trends in the marketplace from other vendors. Having the ability to talk to retailers face to face is invaluable and we were among the first companies to rebook for 2016.What are the main areas of focus for your business in the year ahead? Our focus is on PoS efficiency and security improvements - where we can make a real difference through both our customised and intelligent cash drawer solutions. On the 4 September 2015 Cash Bases merged with APG Cash Drawer to create a world-leading cash drawer technology and cash management solutions provider, differentiated by its ability to deliver innovative technologies with an expanding customer base. This exciting news presents fantastic opportunities for both Cash Bases and APG. It brings our highly innovate SMARTtill Cash Management solution to new markets in North America.Which technologies in particular do you predict will shake up retail in 2015/16?With cash loss still a major concern for the majority of retailers; we can see the SMARTtill Cash Management solution continuing to grow as retailers learn how they can minimise the cost of cash whilst increasing operational efficiency. SMARTtill allows cashier accountability to be maintained despite multiple cashiers using the same cash drawer.Mobility will continue to create new opportunities and will change the way that retailers offer the best customer experience. Tablets fitted with point of sale capabilities will increase in popularity and it is imperative that retailers have a cash drawer that is compatible with the new mobility that tablets bring. What is currently the greatest challenge to (a) your business and (b) the wider retailer industry? With self-service checkouts creating theft problems and shopper anxiety and with unintelligent cash drawers not being able to track cash movements, retailers will look to the SMARTtill Cash Management solution as a way to protect revenue.Retailers need to respond to today's rapidly evolving retail environment with ever-growing customer expectations of an instant, accurate and convenient shopping experience. But they also need straight forward technologies that can be implemented quickly and easily whilst bringing real benefits to them; like our SMARTtill. The next RBTE takes place at London's Olympia between 9-10 March 2016.Click below for more information:Cash BasesRBTE
