C&C Group has reported a solid start to the trading year with sales on its drinks brands up considerably on the same period for last year.An update released for the three months to the end of May shows growth in shipping volumes in the first quarter from 9 per cent to 24 per cent across its brands.The beer and cider manufacturer, which includes Bulmers and Tenants among its brands, said the European Championships in France had been good for June trade in Ireland "and we anticipate a decent month for our brands".But it warned, "despite the solid start, we remain cautious on our outlook for the year. The result of the [BREXIT]referendum in the UK brings with it uncertainty, volatility and a lack of visibility."In Ireland, good weather in March and May boosted cider sales, it said."There is momentum in the Corona brand and our wine portfolio and boutique beer range are beginning to perform."Heverlee and Clonmel 1650 were up 67 per cent and 65 per cent respectively in the on-trade in Northern Ireland.
