Bumblebeebaby Blog When Everyday Appears to be a Bad Day - Positive Resolutions! (Part 4 of 4)

This week covers off the final piece of our 4-part blog, When Everyday Appears to be a Bad Day.There is no co-incidence that we are ending the series off on a positive note. Positive Resolution ...The subtle message is that there is light at the end of the tunnel and whilst we may find ourselves in dark, dark moments, every stage is just a phase ... Time passes (far too quickly as most of us would agree) so it's about working through the mud and finding Positive resolutions ... If you have not yet had a chance to read part 1-3, have a quick squizz below (*click links):- When Every Day Appears to be a Bad Day (Part 1 of 4)...- When Every Days Appears to be a Bad Day - (Part 2 of 4) - 7 Ways to Change your Child's Behaviour!- When Every Day Appears to be a Bad Day (Part 3 of 4)... Temper TantrumsHere are 8 ideas as to how to implement and manage your response to challenging behaviour.Stop & Start again!1. Change the timetable:Try to do the things that require co-operation when your child is not hungry or tired. i.e. dressing them in the morning after breakfast.2. Find things that your child enjoys and do them together:This does not necessarily require money ...You could go swimming, to the library or for a walk in the park. Let them know that you are happy when they are happy. You will be amazed at how effective positive reflection can be.3. Ask yourself, does it really matter?Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't. Try not to form negative habits. Set the boundaries in accordance with your values.4. Say sorry:This is the most liberating feeling (once you have accepted that saying sorry to your little one is important) ... We may feel begrudged to apologise to our children, however it's a powerful tool and lesson for both you and your child. You know when you have been unreasonable or if an exaggerated response has been fuelled by tiredness/ your emotions.Take ownership for your actions and you will very quickly appreciate and admire your child's unwavering ability to forgive.5. Remember, all children are different:Some like to sit quietly while others want to spend every waking moment on the move and exploring. If your child is into 'everything', the best thing to do is to give them as many opportunities as possible to let off steam & explore safely.6. The way you and your partner behave has an effect on your child:Happy parents = Happy children.Simple!7. Young children are still learning:Have you ever looked back & thought ... I'm expecting too much. Then, you probably are. Accept their age and encourage rather than begrudge them. Instructions are not always easy to remember ...8. Look after yourself:Looking after children can be exhausting both emotionally and physically. Having some time to yourself can help you manage better. We would love to hear your views ...Please share any ideas/ techniques that help you find your way through the 'jungle' moments.
