Bird Run Media Blog Teaching Old Toys New Tricks

Teach an old toy new tricks: Word Scramble with Magnetic Letters! If someone under five lives in your house, you probably have magnetic letters on your fridge. Or maybe you have Scrabble, Apple Letters, or Bananagrams. Or some alphabet letter blocks. Maybe your crew is outgrowing "baby" games or is still just a little too young to play more sophisticated word games. Maybe you've lost a tile or two and the set isn't complete anymore (things wander off, we know...). With a few minutes and a minimum of two players, you can breathe new life into tried-and-true titles from your toy chest.Think of this like hide-and-seek meets word-search. To play, little birds take turns making words within the jumble of letters on a table while the other player(s) close their eyes. Then the seekers have to find the hidden word. First one to find the word is the next hider. It's pretty easy-peasy and good for groups with basic word identification skills.
