Hugs en routeWhat do you get when you combine handprints, some string, and the USPS? Hint: See above. Send some far-flung family members a little love with this super duper quick-and-easy, mess-free activity. Shake things up if you have a little more time with the variations. What you need: Paper: regular ol' 8.5" x 11" while does the trick just fine, any paper will doCrayons, markers, pencils, pens, or anything that you can use to traceOptional: stickers, stampers, etc for decorating your hugScissors: grownups, we're trusting you to use your judgement hereAn arm's length of ribbon or stringTapeA stamped envelope addressed to the lucky hug-ee (Tip: It's better if it's a greeting card-sized envelope, not a standard envelope, unless you're cool with folding your hands; then it's like a hug and a wave)What you do: Lay the paper on a table and place one or both little hands on top Trace each hand - if you have an "I CAN DO IT" on your hands, let 'em have at itCut out the hands and decorate at willConnect the cut out hands with the length of ribbon using tape Insert into envelopeSign, seal, and deliver! Shake things up:Get messy- instead of tracing little hands, dip them in paint! For this, you're going to need some kid-safe paint and a paper plate pallet (go ahead and say it out loud, it's fun). Dip little hands into the paint and print onto the paper. Allow to the prints to dry completely before cutting, ribboning, and sending. If you have leftover paper after trimming around the handprints, cut out some hearts or circles and make happy faces. We also hear this is a lovely way to send a hug to a deployed family member.
