Birchmere Labs: Pittsburgh-based Birchmere Labs invests in Earshot

Birchmere Labs, an arm of Pittsburgh-based venture capital firm Birchmere Ventures, has invested in Chicago-based Earshot's $1.7 million funding round. Sean Ammirati, Birchmere partner, declined to say how much, and said there were other investors in the round who were not identified. Birchmere Labs, which focuses on community-driven commerce startups, raised a $10 million fund in fall 2012. This was its first deal in Chicago and sixth investment so far this year.
