The company says that it has also entered into a technology license agreement with Precision Ceramics USA to manufacture a ceramic composite for defense armor applications. According to Sintx, ceramic materials are used in modern armor systems due to their light weight and resistance to high velocity projectiles. B4C makes boron carbide, a ceramic material used in the manufacture of protective body armor plates. Plans are for Sintx to manufacture pure boron carbide to make the highest strength ceramic armor available. The company will also develop a lower cost composite of boron carbide and silicon carbide, under a license from Precision Ceramics USA.
