Betty brings her Gateway All-In-One computer in to us and said it had a black screen. Immediately I saw that the plastic protective film covering that comes with a lot of new computers was still on her All-In-One computer. Here's what is wrong with having this protective covering on a computer. If the plastic covering is blocking the air vents it is similar to someone covering your head with a plastic bag .... the air flow is cut off and you die. Likewise when there was no ventilation (air flow) Betty's computer died. We ran a diagnostic and saw that her fan was bad so we fixed that right away. Then we found out that her motherboard was basically fried from being overheated since there was no ventilation. Sometimes we simply replace the motherboard if that makes sense.
