Aemmplify Blog Artist of the Week Nov. 9 Microphone Jordan

©Byrd Top row©Carlos Cardozo BL©Khalid Livingston BRBIOSelf proclaimed, "The Illest", Microphone Jordan is a newcomer to the rap game. Hot off his single "Kiss" available on iTunes, the emcee is preparing for the debut project, "Rather Dapper". His eclectic ear for good music with dance rhythms and different sounds leads to diverse production but his prized possession is lyricism. MJ hails from the Southside of Chicago, specifically the south suburbs, Homewood. The young artist cites his upbringing as his inspiration and it makes sense with diversity and openness key factors in his music. Growing up Jordan traveled a lot throughout the country and honed his craft among the other ethnicities and in this mixing pot of people he learned the human race is more similar than we are different. So the music is a offering of joy to the people meant to celebrate and encourage. Expect to be wowed by this Hip Hop phenom as he adds quality art to the culture. InterviewWHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?My inspiration is my upbringing and my environment. It means a lot to me being able to show people how I grew up through my music. I can give people a glimpse into my world and the lyrics usually will overlap with the listener's world because they're able to apply certain things to their life. Express yourself is what you call it I believe. WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO COLLABORATE WITH?I would like to collaborate with some cold lyricist like Eminem, Lupe Fiasco or Biggie. Those guys would make me think about like how am I going to approach this track, like yoooo! That would be tight.IS THERE A GENRE YOU DON'T LIKE?I haven't listened to heavy metal since I was a kid. I remember it sounded really loud and like a bunch of noises clashing together. So I'd have to listen to that genre of music again. It'd probably be some songs that I liked eventually... or not.HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL? IF SO - WHICH ONES?"I have been to a music festival. I went to South By South West one year. I went to A3C in Atlanta one year. Last but not least I went to North Coast this year. If I had to rank them it would be hard to. Each festival had their own experience. They were all a good time. I have a deep appreciation for the Hip Hop culture and even more so music in general so a music festival is definitely a really cool event to check out."Find Microphone JordanInstagram @MicrophoneJordanTwitter @RollWitAWinnaSoundcloud RollWitAWinnaPermalink
